By booking an appointment, paying a deposit, or being tattooed by Madd Inkz, you agree to these Terms. They apply alongside the Privacy Policy and any consent or release form you sign before your session. If those documents conflict, the signed consent form controls for that appointment.
Madd Inkz is a sole proprietorship operated by Maddie Reid (legal name Madison Reid). There is no separate company. Your agreement is with Maddie Reid doing business as Madd Inkz, referred to here as Madd Inkz, we, us, and our.
Client, you, and your mean the person requesting or receiving services. Services means tattooing, consultations, design work, and anything related. Deposit means the payment required to hold an appointment.
You must be 18 or older to be tattooed by Madd Inkz. New York State law makes it unlawful to tattoo anyone under 18, and no parent or guardian can consent on a minor's behalf.
You must present valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification at every appointment. We do not tattoo anyone who cannot produce ID, regardless of circumstances, and no exception will be made.
We do not tattoo anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Madd Inkz is appointment only. We do not accept walk-ins.
Appointments run Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 6pm.
Appointments are requested through the booking form on this website. Submitting a request does not confirm an appointment. Allow up to three days for your request to be reviewed and confirmed. An appointment is only held once a deposit has been received.
A consultation over Zoom or Google Meet may be required at our discretion, and you may also request one. Consultations typically run ten to thirty minutes.
Our minimum charge is $100. Work is priced per piece rather than by the hour.
After reviewing your intake form we will provide an estimate, usually expressed as a range. That estimate is not a fixed price. Final pricing is not settled until the design, size, and placement are agreed, and may change if any of those change or if the work takes longer than anticipated.
A deposit is required to hold every appointment.
Your deposit is not an additional charge. It is applied directly against the final balance of your tattoo.
You may pay more than the minimum deposit if you would prefer to spread the cost across several payments before your appointment.
We require at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. For an appointment booked for the following day, 24 hours is the absolute minimum.
Your deposit will transfer to a rescheduled appointment one time. If you reschedule again, the deposit is forfeited and a new deposit is required to book.
Cancelling with less notice than required, or failing to attend, forfeits your deposit.
If a genuine emergency arises, contact us as early as you can and we will do what we reasonably can to work with you.
Cash and Zelle are the preferred payment methods, as neither carries a processing fee.
We also accept card payments, online invoices, PayPal, and Venmo. These platforms charge a processing fee of approximately 2 to 3 percent, and that fee is passed on to you. If you pay by one of these methods, add the fee to the amount you send.
The remaining balance is due on the day of your appointment.
Tattooing services performed in New York City are subject to New York City local sales tax. Sales tax is added to your final balance and is not included in quoted estimates.
You must complete and sign a consent form before any tattooing begins.
You are responsible for disclosing, truthfully and completely, any medical condition, allergy, medication, or circumstance that could affect your safety or your healing. That includes blood disorders, blood thinners, diabetes, immune conditions, skin conditions at the tattoo site, recent surgery, and pregnancy.
Failure to disclose relevant medical information is at your own risk.
We may decline or stop a session at any time, including if you cannot produce ID, appear intoxicated, disclose a condition that makes tattooing unsafe, have a skin condition or open wound at the site, are pregnant, behave abusively, or for any other reason at our discretion.
Where a session is refused or stopped for any of the reasons above, we reserve the right to retain your deposit. Whether we do so is decided case by case, taking into account the circumstances and how much notice we had.
Tattooing breaks the skin and carries inherent risks, including pain, swelling, bleeding, bruising, scabbing, infection, allergic reaction, scarring, keloid formation, and results you may not like. By proceeding, you accept those risks.
You are responsible for following the aftercare instructions provided. Much of how a tattoo heals is determined by what you do in the weeks afterward, not by the session itself.
Cover-ups and reworks are accepted case by case. We do not accept every request, and a consultation is required before we commit to one.
We make no guarantee that a cover-up will fully conceal existing work. What is achievable depends on the size, age, darkness, and placement of the original tattoo.
You are responsible for having the right to use any reference image you submit. Do not send artwork you do not have permission to use.
We use references as inspiration for original work. We do not copy another artist's tattoo or artwork line for line.
By submitting references you confirm that, as far as you are aware, doing so does not infringe anyone's rights, and you accept responsibility if it does.
Designs are created after your intake form and any consultation, and are revealed at your appointment rather than sent in advance. Time is set aside at the start of your session to review the design together and make adjustments before tattooing begins.
Some pieces are drawn freehand directly onto the skin on the day, where the work needs to follow the shape of your body.
Designs created by Madd Inkz remain our intellectual property. Being tattooed with a design does not transfer ownership of the artwork or grant you the right to reproduce it commercially.
We may photograph completed work and use those photographs in our portfolio, on this website, and on social media.
Photography of completed work is a standard part of the service. If there is a specific photograph you would rather was not used, contact us and we will remove it.
You are welcome to bring one guest. Studio seating is limited, so if you plan to arrive with a group, contact us in advance so we can plan for it.
We are not responsible for personal property you bring with you. Abusive, threatening, or disruptive behavior ends the session immediately.
Tattoo services are final and non-refundable once work has begun. A tattoo cannot be returned, and payment covers the artist's time and the work performed.
Your first touch-up is provided free of charge. Touch-ups should not be scheduled until the tattoo is fully surface-healed, which takes at least six to eight weeks.
The free touch-up is not time-limited, but it covers normal healing variation only. Fading or damage caused by sun exposure, poor aftercare, or ordinary wear over time is not covered and will be quoted as new work.
Tattoos are made by hand on living skin. Results vary with skin type, body area, healing, aftercare, sun exposure, and time. We do not guarantee any specific appearance, healing outcome, or longevity.
If you are unhappy with your tattoo, contact us. We would rather hear from you and have the opportunity to put it right.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability arising from the services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maddie Reid and Madd Inkz from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, your failure to disclose relevant medical information, your failure to follow aftercare instructions, or your submission of artwork you did not have the right to use.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the services will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any signed consent form, are the entire agreement between you and Madd Inkz regarding the services.
Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top. The Terms in effect when you book are the ones that apply to that appointment.
